Just arrived back home from a grueling, but fun, week on the Platte River in south-central Nebraska. Late nights, combined with early mornings, left a little gap in the ole sleep schedule, but I had a wonderful and very rewarding experience on the Platte. One morning, I was photographing Sandhill Cranes that were moving from the river to the nearby fields for foraging. While photographing the cranes flying in, I had a couple of Red-wing Blackbirds (Agelaius phoeniceus) that would perch in some nearby trees and display. Here are a couple of my favorite images:
I’ll again share images of the Platte River Sandhill Cranes, as well as more of the lone Whooping Crane (yes, I was blessed to see him 2 more times along the Platte River during the trip!), starting with tomorrow’s post.
