Shooting Stars

Another interesting wildflower that is prevalent around the Shaw Nature Reserve (near St. Louis, MO) is the Shooting Star (Dodecatheon meadia). I’ve seen a few of these on some of our west-central Missouri prairies, but not a dominant flower around our home. But the Shaw Nature Reserve had plenty of these lovelies, in both white and pink. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Handheld, with IS “On”
  • ISO 400 to ISO 500
  • Aperture f/5.6 (all images)
  • Shutter 1/320 sec. to 1/500 sec.
