The “P” Warblers Are Back!”

By that, I’m talking about the Prothonotary Warblers (Protonotaria citrea), which are always a sign that spring is here! And I refer to them as the “P” warblers as that is much easier to say … and write. :o)

As I kayaked yesterday, I had dozens of these beauties around the banks of the waterway and some even working the stumps and downed logs, looking for insects and spiders. It is always such a wonderful experience to slowly kayak the area and have these beautiful birds fly around and serenade me. Here are a few of my favorite images from yesterday:

It won’t be long until they begin nesting in some of the dead stumps that are in the middle of the creek. That’s another wonderful photo opp … watching them busily carrying back spiders, flies, insects to the nest!
