After returning home from a road trip around the Missouri Ozarks, I took the kayak out for a venture over the weekend. Very little activity out on the water … the beavers were not to be seen (although I could hear them gnawing on tree limbs inside their lodge), no raccoons were found at the water’s edge looking for food, and I didn’t even hear or see any ducks until I was leaving the area … 2 pair of Mallard Ducks flew over me as I was lifting the kayak out of the water.
About the only life I observed were a few Tufted Titmice (Parus bicolor). They seemed to be caught up in the cool, crisp morning, foraging among the trees for any remaining insects and any seeds they could find. Here are a few images I made:
This week’s weather forecast for our area is for cooler temps. I’m hoping that the cooler temps will cause more ducks to begin migrating through the area … I’ll be there, with camera, waiting for them.
