While driving the Mount Evans Highway (Colorado) recently, I came upon a wonderful alpine meadow, full of wildflowers. Stopping to view and photograph the wildflowers, I observed a lone, adult Yellow-bellied Marmot (Marmota flaviventris) that was scurrying among the wildflowers. Here are some images I made of the little guy, next to his burrow:
In the first image, you can clearly see his burrow, among the rocks. The wildflowers were the best I’ve ever seen here, and I’ll share some wildflower images in another post.
