A couple of days ago, during one of my kayak outings, I was fortunate to see a couple of Yellow-billed Cuckoos (Coccyzus americanus) up close. Normally, these handsome birds are quite shy and more often heard than seen. This is one of the things I love about combining kayaking and nature photography … the kayak is small, lies low in the water, and is very quiet. This usually results in being able to get much closer to wildlife!
