While at Burr Oak Woods a while back, I captured what is sometimes referred to as “The Great Houdini of Wildflowers”, the Yellow Sweet Clover. This is a non-native plant, originally arriving from Eurasia. It is a highly drought-resistant plant that is often planted for hay, pasture and green manure. But it “escapes” cultivation and dots the countryside now. It definitely adds a splash of color where it grows. Here are a couple of my favorite images:
