Violets, Violets, Everywhere!

In today’s post, I’m featuring some of the very common, Common Violets, that are now blooming everywhere. In some locations in the woods, it’s hard to walk without stepping on one! Here are a couple of my favorite images I captured in the woodlands last Saturday:

Not sure if two different species, but my guess is the same species. The top image was taken in sunlight, at the edge of the woods, while the bottom image was deep in the woods. So it is likely the same species, just in different light that gives the different coloration.

Photographic Equipment Used:

  • Canon 5D Mark 3 body
  • Canon EF 180mm, f/3.5 macro lens
  • Bogen 3221 tripod and ballhead
  • ISO 800
  • Aperture f/4.5 to f/11
  • Shutter 1/20 sec. to 1/1000 sec.
