Fun Friday: “Mirror, Mirror …”

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a “Fun Friday” post, one just for fun, so here goes. As I was quietly sitting along the creek bank waiting for beavers, a flurry of bird activity started up. There were various kinds of birds observed: flickers, downy woodpeckers, tufted titmice, American goldfinches, a wren (not yet identified), and about 15-20 Eastern bluebirds. As I watched them fly about, two of the male Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis) males flew by, fighting each other with each wingbeat. They were so involved that they even flew into the water!

Shortly after, another Bluebird male landed on a small limb on the opposite side of the creek. As I watched, he bent over the branch and appeared to be admiring himself in the water. Seeing this, I quickly grabbed a few images. I then noticed a female Bluebird that was not far from him, intently watching the male admire himself in the water. If only birds could talk … bet she was thinking “You’re So Vain!”.

When I travel back to the creek in a few minutes, I’m going to take my tripod and my 500mm lens this time … should make grabbing some songbird images a bit easier!  Here are the Bluebird images I made yesterday:

Next week, I’ll post some more beaver images from this location.
