Tri-colored Birdie

I photographed a few TriColored Herons (Egretta tricolor) along the Anhinga Trail. Along the Anhinga Trail, the Tri’s were pretty tranquil, usually quietly waiting for a fish to swim within easy grasp. Here are a few images I captured in the Everglades:

At one time, the Tricolored Heron was know as the Louisiana Heron. Guess it decided to travel on to other places :o)

Photography Equipment Used:

  • Canon 7D body
  • Canon EF100mm-400mm, f/4.5 – f/5.6 IS lens, shot at 285mm and 400mm
  • Handheld, with IS “On”
  • ISO 500 and 800
  • Aperture f/5.6 and f/8
  • Shutter 1/1600 sec. and 1/2000 sec.
