Yesterday morning, I made an early morning trip to a local prairie. During the weather segment of our local news, I heard the “Good News” … Jack Frost would be visiting us overnight! When Tuesday morning came, I got up, put on several layers of clothes (the air temperature was in the teens), grabbed one of my camera bodies/macro lens and tripod, and headed to the prairie. Upon arrival, it was evident that Jack was there … ice crystals (frost) was glistening on many plant surfaces. Heading up the hill and through the woods, I entered the prairie and began photographing the beauty that laid out before me.
In today’s post, I am sharing some of the tight macro images of the actual frost crystals, as they lay on some old, burned-out stumps and branches in the prairie. How unique and wonderful they are! Here are a few of my faves I captured:
In Part 2, I will feature some images of some prairie plants that were frosted up.
