Today’s post features a “rare” wildflower in bloom at the current time … the Dutchman’s Breeches (Dicentra cucullaria). This plant is not rare, in fact I found hundreds of plants growing on the ~2 acres I scoured. But out of the whole area, I only found a single clump with blooms! With that said, the Dutchman’s Breeches will soon be covering the landscape, with little white pantaloons hanging to sway in the wind! Here are a couple of images I captured of this soon-to-be dominant plant:
Photographic Equipment Used:
- Canon 5D Mark 3 body
- Canon EF 180mm, f/3.5 macro lens
- Bogen 3221 tripod and ballhead
- ISO 800 (higher than what I wanted to use, but the wind was pretty nasty at times)
- Aperture f/3.5
- Shutter 1/2500 sec. to 1/3200 sec.
