Fun Friday: Smile for the Camera!

Bighorn Ram "Lip Curl"

Actually, this Bighorn Sheep ram (Ovis canadensis) was performing a “lip curl”, checking the air to see if any of the nearby ewes might be coming into season, during the fall rut. The sheep, like many other mammals, have excellent olfactory sensory organs that are utilized when lip curling. The landscape is certainly different than the recent posts of the Bighorn Sheep of the Rocky Mountains.
