A Dayflower At It’s Best

While camping in Prairie State Park in early October, I found this lovely little wildflower, growing behind a large shade tree:

Dayflower wildflower

This is a Dayflower (Commelina communis), a member of the Spiderwort family, and grows in Missouri’s low woods, bottomlands, and near dwellings. It grows from one to two feet tall, and can bloom from May to October. Quite a beauty when you find one.
