Fun Friday: Bison Tongue

Today’s “Fun Friday” post comes from a quick trip through Yellowstone National Park, on my way back from my Alaska photo workshop, in 2011. As I photographed a herd of American Bison (Bos bison), one of it’s members seemingly stuck it’s tongue out at me, while intently watching my movements (I was quite close when this image was made, but I was photographing from behind my car, so I was not really in harm’s way). Kinda similar to the 2 Yellow-bellied Marmot kids I featured a while back in a “Fun Friday” post … mocking the photographer! :o)  In reality, the bison was simply “licking his lips”, a behavior that is common with the bison as they graze the grasses of the prairie. Enjoy!

This post was a quick “Fun Friday” post for today. I’m displaying some of my art in the Fall Harvest Art & Craft Show in Lee’s Summit, Missouri today (11:00am to 7:00pm) and tomorrow (10:00am to 5:00pm), at the John Knox Pavillion. If you will be attending this annual fun show, please stop by my booth and say “Hi”!

If you enjoyed this blog post, please feel free to send a link to your friends and other photographers that you think will enjoy it!
