One evening during my recent trip to Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area, a lone juvenile Northern Harrier (Circus cyaneus) was very actively hunting with the sun beginning to set. Staying inside and using my vehicle as a blind, the harrier got pretty close to the car and obliged me with some nice images with the lovely golden light falling over the bird and the dry marsh she was hunting:
And in these last 2 images, you can see the white rump patch that is so representative of the Northern Harriers:
By the way, this Northern Harrier was living up to it’s former name of “Marsh Hawk”, flying over some dried-up marshes found on the Eagle Bluffs Conservation area.
