Fun Friday: Bath Time

Going back into the archives for today’s “Fun Friday” post. This image was originally shared last year, but I have received a lot of comments on it. So thought I’d share it with everyone again, in these dog days of summer … enjoy!

This adult American Beaver (Castor canadensis) was sitting in shallow water, eating an American Lotus plant stalk, while I watched and photographed from my kayak, maybe 30 feet away:

After he had finished eating, he took a moment to bathe, before swimming off to his lodge:

Unfortunately, this family of beavers were trapped this past winter and there are currently no more residing at this site. But I’m sure hoping some more find their way to the area soon!
