In my quest to get some images of the birds in the prairie meadow, the most common one I’ve found is the American Goldfinch (Carduelis tristis). The Goldfinches can be found all over the meadow, but most can be found near a large area of sunflowers, which is the major wildflower in bloom at this time. They will often fly into the sunflower field either singly or in small groups. They then fly from plant to plant, pulling seeds out of spent wildflower seedheads.
