After posting yesterday’s blog on Trumpeter Swans I photographed last year at Squaw Creek NWR, I checked their website last night to get their latest bird counts (they usually conduct their counts every Tuesday). Wow … last week’s count was 51 Trumpeter Swans; yesterday’s count was 95! That sealed my schedule for tomorrow … I’m heading out to photograph these gorgeous birds, right after I get this posted!
In the meantime, I had a comment from someone on Twitter about them seeing some a few years ago, in snowy/icy conditions. That got me to thinking … I was able to capture some pretty nice Trumpeter Swan images 2 years ago, when I was in Haines, Alaska shooting bald eagles along the Chilkat River. So, I dug these up from my archives (prior to nature blog) to share today:
Well, the post has posted, so I’m out the door!
