During this past week, I made several ventures to nearby woodlands to search for our spring woodland wildflowers. Due to the extremely warm and moist spring we have been experiencing in Missouri, the woodland wildflowers are really starting to display very nicely. Today’s post includes one of my favorite Missouri woodland wildflowers, the Spring Beauty (Claytonia virginica). This wildflower is easy to miss in new growth. The flowers of the Spring Beauty are very small and extend only about 6-8 inches above the ground. But they are worth looking for! Here are a few of my favorite images of the Spring Beauty:
In upcoming posts, I will share more woodland spring wildflowers from around my house.
